  Ⅰ Teaching material:

    Lesson 72 “what’s wrong with Mrs Brown?”
  Ⅱ Teaching objectives:
    1. To improve Ss’ four skills –Listening, speaking, reading and writing.
    2. To train Ss’ ability to make dialogues with some useful expressions, such as “what’s wrong with Mrs Brown?”
    3. To develop Ss’ interest in assessment and their ability to assess.  
  Ⅲ Teaching aids: a tape recorder, pictures and some real objects
  Ⅳ Teaching Methodologies: the Communicative Approach, the Direct Method.

Step 1 Duty Report (self assessment, peer assessment, teacher’s assessment )

Revision


Teacher shows some real objects to Ss (eg: some medicine, etc) and asks one student to act out: have a cold / cough/headache / backache / stomach-ache.
Then asks all the class: What’s wrong with him?
Ss: He has a cold / cough / headache / backache / stomach-ache.
T: What does he have to do?

Ss: He has to  take some medicine.

        have a rest.

        stay in bed.

Step 3
Presentation
T: Now look at the picture. What can you see?
Ss: A fat woman and a doctor.
T: Listen to the tape and repeat. And then answer : ”What’s wrong with Mrs Brown?
Step 4 Listen again and answer the questions
1) Why did Mrs Brown go to see the doctor?
2) Is there anything wrong with Mrs Brown?
3) What does she have to do?
4) What does she have to eat and drink?
5) Why did the doctor ask Mrs Brown to eat and drink those things?
Step 5
 
Make some sentences with the key language points.

Discuss in groups of four and then some students write down the result of their discussion.

Act out some dialogues and have a match between groups (to do the group assessment. The result of group assessment will be shown and comments will be made.)
Some students act as doctors, patients or parents.
(Ask more than twenty students to act.)
Step 8 呈现《初二下英语评价手册》Unit 18, speaking
并由学生与同伴进行调查 ”Healthy Survey”
