Describing colours
Preparation: Ask every student to prepare 3 flags,
a red one (5 points), a yellow one (3 points) and a green one (2 points).

2. To learn colouring pictures in accordance with requirements.

can you see in the play? Show a short play three times.
The first time is for them to look and listen, then check the
answer; the second time is for them to listen and remember;
the third time is for them to follow. During the procedure,
teach the new word “red” and revise the old

After that, ask two pairs to demonstrate, then let them assess

pronunciation and intonation are good, give them a red flag,
if you think they are common, give them a yellow one, if you
think they should be better next time, give them a green one. |

purple and orange. |

Let the students talk about the colourful things
they have prepared. They should do it in a chain like this:
what’s in your desk? What colour is it? Let’s
see which group is the best. |
To revise the words they’ve just learnt, train
them to use the new words to describe the real things. |
The best group will win a red flag, the second
best group will have a yellow one, the third group will own
a green one, and no flag for the last group. |

Take out the paper they’ve prepare, ask and
answer in pairs. Your may see many colourful things in the paper,
ask your partner, what colour is it? Or
what colour are they? Then you should choose a best
pair from each group. Finally, we’ll discuss whose car/ flower/
book is the best, whose flower is nice. |
To arouse their interests in describing colors. |
Appreciate their pictures and listen to their
describing, if both of them are good, they can get a red flag.
If the speech is good but the picture is so-so, they may have
a yellow one. If the picture is beautiful but they can’t describe
it fluently, they will have a green flag. If neither the picture
nor the speech is good, they will get nothing. |
