Seeing a doctor and health
  Tasks:
  1. To understand the story.
  2. To be able to use the following words and phrases:

    A. To tell others or doctors how you are feeling
    ex: I often feel tired and weak. I am not feeling well.
    B. To discuss the problem of health including how to keep health and the        connection between sports and health and so on.

    Have more fruit and vegetables; get enough sleep.

Steps Activities
Step1.
Introduction and greetings
1. Play an English song<my heart will go on>before class.
2. Introduce myself and greetings.
  Do you like the song?
  I am from Xincheng Middle School.
  My family name is Zhang. I am not tall, but I am a little fat. I am very glad to teach you instead of your teacher.
  I hope we can do it well.
Step2.
Presentation

1. Know the students by dialogues like this:
  --What’s your name?
  --My name is …
  --Nice to meet you.
  --Nice to meet you, too.
  --Mmm, you’re taller than me, but I think you’re   thinner than me. Do you agree with me?

2. Show a picture of Mr. Brown. Say,”He is thin and you are thin, too.”
  Teach thin—thinner

3. Ask a fatter boy questions and then show a picture of Mr. Brown.
  Teach fat--fatter

Step 3.
Presentation
1. Still show the picture of Mr. Brown. Ask them some questions: Do you think he is healthy?

  Why do you think so?
  What should she do?

2. Read through the story by themselves and then answer the questions after the story.

3. Act the story out, but I will do first.
Step 4.
Tape
There is something wrong with Mr. Brown, too. Before listening, show the students a picture. Let them guess what is wrong with him? Then listen to it and do the exercises in the workbook.
Step5.
Practice
Let the students make up dialogues in pairs. One is a doctor, and the other is a patient. Then let them act them out.
Step6.
Writing
Show them a letter. Say,”here’s our friend Sun Xiaoli. Now her friend is ill. She wants to give her some suggestions. ” Let them read the letter and fill in the blacks.
Step7.
Enrichment
Write some phrases on the blackboard about how to keep healthier and stronger (what we must do and we mustn’t do) with the students.

Tell them my hope: live healthy, and live long.
